La linea de desarrollo del grupo de LAB de Biopelículas y Microbiología Ambiental del Centro de Biotecnología de la Universidad de Concepción, interacciones biológicas y la ecología molecular de comunidades microbianas (Arqueas Bacterias), adheridas a superficies (biopelículas) como herramientas conceptuales para desarrollar aplicaciones tecnológicas en el medio ambiente y la industria.
En este contexto, el trabajo del académico suscrito (vitrificable en financiamiento, Fondecyt, InnovaChile, CORFO SEMILLA FIA, y FONDEF) , ha tributado también directamente a la formación de personas a nivel de Pregrado y Postgrado.
En el periodo entre 2004 a 2017 se han dirigido un total de 20 estudiantes (pre y postgrado). Se cuentan allí a termino 2 tesis de doctorado (Programas de Cs. Biológicas y en Microbiología, y cuatro tesis de Magister (Microbiología e Ingeniería). En el mismo periodo se han graduado 14 estudiantes de pre-grado (Biología. Bioingeniería, Bioquímica. Ing. Biotecnología Vegetal, Ing en Acuicultura y Biotecnología Marina.
