    Chandra X-ray Observatory

    Estados Unidos, 2004

    NASA-sponsored Chandra Fellowship Program provides an opportunity for highly qualified, recent postdoctoral scientists to conduct independent research that is broadly related to the goals of the Chandra X-Ray Observatory (CXO) satellite. This research can include new Chandra observations and archival studies as well as related theoretical studies and studies of X-ray sources with other X-ray missions or at other wavelengths. However, the main criterion for proposal review is the contribution to the understanding of X-ray sources, and a Fellow's progress in this area may be specifically appraised for continuation of the fellowship after the second year. The research will be carried out at United States Host Institutions chosen by each Fellow. The Fellowship provides support for up to three years at an annual stipend of approximately $54,500 plus benefits (as described below), and some allowance for travel and other research costs. Contingent upon NASA funding, up to 5 Chandra Fellowships are awarded every year.
